great.. it's like the wait all over again. (QUESTION about SS wait)

it feels like before getting approved all over again. every day i go to my mailbox expecting to see it but its never there.

i applied for Social Security card on June 6th. they gave me a letter telling me to wait around 4 weeks for it to arrive. My sister's social arrived within a week after she applied!

i sent that letter back to their office, since i think thats what they told me to do the day i went to apply for it.

its now 2 weeks and nothing.

anything that i can do to speed up this damn card to arrive?


oh, i applied on the Margate, FL office (coconut creek blvd).

If your receipt says that you have to wait 4 weeks, that means that your information has to be manually confirmed with the DHS because it couldn't be done electronically. You will probably have to wait the entire month to receive your SSN.

I was also told 4 weeks and it arrived exactly on the 4th week.

Well when i went to apply for my social security i asked the nice lady if there is a way that i could get it earlier and she simply said that if i wanted too i could call social security after a week and ask them if they have generated my social security # and they could provide it to me through the phone meanwhile the card arrives ?

My sister and I went on the same day to get ours (in NYC).She got hers in about 5 days. I got mine on the 4th week. Just relax buddy, you'll have it before you know it. Just start making plans for what to do once it comes in, like drivers license and such.
