Okay, so my dad wants to travel to Oregon for a week via airplane but He is scared. I told him that as long as his mexican passport is valid and his name matches the ticket he'll be fine because I travelled 4 times with just my mexican passport just fine but he thinks its because Im young. He is still nervous about him being racial profiled so what should I do to encourage him? I was thinking that if I told him about stories from some of your parents traveling succesfully he'll calm down and be down to fly. He'll be travelling with my grandma and she has a visa. So i assume that if she has a visa they'll ask him to see his visa too? Idk should they check in at different times? Any of your parents traveled succesfully with mexican passport? If so how did they handle the " i might get deported nervousness" lol

I'd be nervous tbh, I wouldn't risk it if I was him.. I remember I wanted to go to Florida and ended up not going because of my passport (before daca)

I'd say though 9/10 he'd be fine but it's still not worth it

It depends on the TSA agent, some don't care. Actually they shouldn't even be checking for VISA. But you never know, technically they can.

that's kind of what your dad is facing, not trying to scare you. Just facts man.

good luck!

I'm not one to encourage or discourage, but you can show him the TSA website and show him that foreign passports are on the acceptable ID list. I once called them to re-verify and you can do the same... You have done it. Does he speak English? Im sure that would help and also if he dresses up for his flight (to not say tell him to not wear his thick brown sandals if he thinks he'll be profiled like that). I just don't know what your dad looks like, that's why.

One time my mom did NOT have proper ID and they let her through by first running her name in a database and having her sign a paper slip saying who she was and maybe it was an affidavit, i'm not sure. We were scared as HELL. Luckily TSA found it in their hearts to let her travel. That was a huge risk tho. O and she was not the only one there were 2 other younger than her folks w/no iD and they did the same. I also read an article on yahoo about a white lady not having her DL on her and they (tsa) verified who she was through her fam and i guess database(?) and they let her fly to Hawaii.

My mom and I flew to Atlanta a couple of months ago and she used her Mexican passport without any issues (I used my DL).
