What to do about it? Sometimes I want to call the cops but I'm scared I'll have to show some kind of ID and my neighbor will know I'm not in this country legally. This crazy neighbor has been harassing my family for awhile now. As soon as someone comes to visit us, he calls the owner of the apartments and tells them that too many people are living in our apartment.

Next time I see him I want to ask him to please leave us alone otherwise I am just going to call the cops. My family doesn't bother anybody we don't play loud music, we only have one car, etc.

Anybody knows what would happen if I were to call the cops?

Thanks.

Actually you can call the cops and report your neighbor without being fully involved in the whole ordeal. When you call them to report your annoying neighbor make sure you block your phone number and tell the operator you want to remain anonymous. Police don't care about anonymous calls as long as you are telling the truth. Once that's done proceed to provide details and be as specific as you can. Yes, you can exaggerate a bit but make sure to stay within limits so police don't doubt your credibility. Give them your neighbor's exact address (if you know it) and call them right at the moment when your neighbor has/is done something against you.

Wait for 10 to 15 mins, get a good comfortable sit, some cheetos and a cold drink where you can witness your neigh facing off cops. It always cracks me out to see how quickly people change their tune once police are outside their door describing to them that other neighbors are complaining about their behavior.

Enjoy.

Call the cops and please do not give him a heads up that you'll be doing it.

So what exactly do you expect the cops to do? This is a civil matter. If the apartment complex punishes you based on what that guy said then you may have some sort of claim against them, but the cops are just going to tell you you're wasting their time.

I would say either handle this like men - go talk to him and tell him to leave you the fuck alone, take it up with the apartment complex, or move.

I've had good neighbors for a while but there was this Mexican family who moved in to the one bedroom apartment next to mine a few years ago. Mind you, this is a one bedroom in a semi-nice part of town and we have strict rules that only 2 people can be in a one bedroom. At any given time there were 4 or 5 people there, and then they got a dog that they would tie up to the shared balcony (against rules) and he'd shit on the balcony (against rules), and bark at all times.

I tried to be nice and would say hi to the mother who would be sitting on the porch all the time and she'd just look at me all pissy and so I snapped and called the apartment on them. They charge us for water here also based on how many people live in the apartment so if they have 4 people, I'm the one paying for them.

Not sure what this rant has to do with your thing but just saying I kind of understand what the guy must feel if you actually do have more people living there or are always coming and going. When our family was new here and all of us were living together, we were polite to our neighbors too.

Sometimes though you do deal with racism. When we moved to the suburbs in a small townhouse where our neighbors were all white, we could tell we were not welcome there. They reported our dog who had gotten bigger than the rules said (she was rescued from a junk yard but we really weren't sure what breed she was and it turned out she was a very large breed). That was on us and we really had no case and didn't want to live around a bunch of rednecks so we moved.

Yeah, I don't think calling the cops will help. I think I'm just gonna try to be nice again and see what happens. The other day a friend picked me up, he hadn't even been here for more than 3 minutes and my neighbor started harassing him, yelling, etc, there was no need for that. He's a bully. I've seen him have problems with other people before. Even the wife now looks like a zombie, I feel sorry for her.

I just wanted to know in case things do get out of hand and I need to call the cops what would happen.

Even if he was a citizen, what would he tell the cops? "My neighbor keeps calling the apartment complex on me and gives me dirty looks"?? That's not a crime.

I wish he only gave us dirty looks, this guy loooves yelling he doesn't know how to talk like a normal person. HE IS A BULLY, he's a little bit passive aggressive too. He seem to be under a lot of stress maybe because he's pretty much the one supporting his family, but that's not my fault.

Again, I was just curious what would happen if I were to call the cops, and if I would have to show an ID. I don't want to call the cops because after something like that we would have to move to another place and we don't want that.

So far we haven't had any problems, so that's good! I can't be nice because I keep remembering how he yelled at my mom when I wasn't home months ago, so I'm just trying to avoid him.

Thanks for the advice, guys.
