Im going to do a research paper on the Religion of Islam, and i was wondering how you guys feel about this Religion.
Ill be frank. i personally do not like it at all. same with other religions (I seem to pick on Christianity all the time) but anytime i say something bad/ against Islam, some people actually consider me racist or fascist

I respect all religions equally

The fact that Islam goes back the same roots as Christianity and they actually believe in Jesus' existence as a prophet(iirc)..

Might be a little extreme but I can coexist since my group of friends include buddhists, catholics, christians and muslims.

To be honest, I do not quite know much about it. But that is the reason why I can not judge it. And I think all of us dreamies should know what it feels like to be judged and lumped together into one group *cough*

Okay, in my opinion, Islam will always lie underneath the X-axis (-Y region)....it is a more authoritarian religion, I daresay its the same for all three Judeo-Christian religions....how Islam moves along the X-axis depends on a personal interpretation. In terms of national identities, Turkey and Jordan are more towards secularism and progressive as opposed to Saudi Arabia and Iran. So in terms of national conditions, it depends on the particular government of an Islamic country.

I don't like it anymore than I like most other religions, at least not when taken word for word. The Koran has some beautiful poetry, though, and I enjoy reading it.

However, an interesting thing about modern religion is that it does not stem as much from the sacred text as it used to. I think that there is more room for interpretation now a days, and that much freedom has been allowed because people have become accustomed to picking and choosing the parts to follow, and interpreting things different ways. This is why you'll find Christians who say evolution is heresy, and others who say it fits perfectly with their beliefs. In the Middle East, this hasn't been happening as much, but if you take a look at most of the Muslims in the Western world then it's obvious that someday Islam will be tamer in most areas of the world.

The majority of what they practice can't be justified and is not found in the Koran. I personally don't have anything against it but it is like everything someone will take it to the extreme and ruin it for everyone.

Again, we all know what it feels like to be lumped into the same sentence with the "other" illegals..
So let's not lump all people who practice Islam into the "extremist" group either!
