...today was an overwhealming day...I went online to do some research on the Dream Act and was totally bombarded with all kinds of information...I found a site called California Progress Report which ultimately brought me here. But while I was there I had a chance to read some of the postings and some of the things I read where so ignorant, prejudice, and ridiculous it made bile rise to my throat...I felt so insignificant, like a gum wrapper at the bottom of a shoe, a little dramatic, I know but nevertheless that is how I felt...However, I came upon some postings that made me feel so proud and made me want to finally do something, joing something, Fight. There was a person in this site that wrote a quote that hit home like nothing else I have ever read...it went:"run toward your fears. On the other side of your greatest fears lives your greatest life"-by Robin Sharma...I guess unknowingly I havent paid much attention to all the struggles people all over the country have made to get us this far, and I realized it was because i didnt want to get my hopes up. But enough, is enough and I am ready to do what I have to do.
I am 21 years old, I was born in Guadalajara, Mex. and came to this Country which is my home from the age of 3 months. I have a younger brother which I am greatfull was born here and does'nt have to go through this. As many of us, I didnt know the importance of my legal status while I was growing up it kinda only hit me hard when we hit a rough patch and I needed to start working. Needless to say it hasnt gotten any easier as I got older...One of the things that really bothered me was when I got my license while living in Utah just to get it taken away when they decided you could no longer use your ITIN to get a license, by the way an ITIN is like a social...you use it to pay taxes if you are illegal, its so ironic, you can pay taxes but you cant work, you can pay car insurance, but you cant have a license...lol. Another thing that hit me bad was that I coulnt afford to go to community college...for 3 units I was paying around 600+...I had to drop out. I have never been a straight A student or even close, But I love school and I love to learn and to have that a little out of my reach really sucks...
I am soooo sorry I wrote a novel up there but I had to get some things off my chest, and I feel soo much better...
Cant wait to learn more.

Welcome to DAP! ... That was my quote (inspired). I have lived by this quote before even knowing it existed. I too was born in Mexico, but rather than three months, I was brought at three years old... I wonder what I looked like... all cute and innocent... lol. Thanks for joining . . . take the time to read the stories and realize that you're not alone ... we are all brainstorming, praying, and acting on what we can to fix this flaw. Cheers

P.S- Don't let things get to you. Here's another quote to live by ... "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent" by Eleanor Roosevelt ... When you read info that you know is not true, just throw your head back, laugh... then keep on with your business...
