Bringing down Lou Dobbs - Parallels between him and Nazis

1 - A lack of legitimate thought and the prescence of shallow propaganda

Thus the subtle but very real picture of the immigration in modern day USA is painted. Instead of careful, thoughtful discussions we are faced with soundbytes. The truth is that the current immigration situation is complicated and anyone who tries to take the time to explain the situation is overwhelmed by a flurry of interruptions and nonsense. All thought processes by anti-immigrant supporters can be reduced to one of a few sentences. These include: "illegal invasion", "draining the gov.", "taking your jobs", "gangs and crime", "illegal is illegal", and my favorite "AMNESTY!!!".

The definition of Amnesty : "a general pardon for offenses"

Point 1 : How can you have a general pardon for offenses if you are fining, delaying, and putting requirements/conditions on citizenship. No matter what the text of immigraiton reform says, it will always be considered amnesty by critics. You could add "chop off thier hand" and some would still say "AMNESTY!!!". An effective soundbyte that has millions at arms.

Point 2 : In the case of the Dream Act, how can you consider entry into the country by an infant or toddler an OFFENSE that is being forgiven. Sorry the little tugger didnt have the morality to pull out his pacifier or binkey and say hey parents leave me behind, I dont want to go to the US because Lou Dobbs will call me a criminal.

2. "War on the Middle Class" - Invented by Hitler

Lou Dobbs has explicitly stated over and over again that the immigration issue is a "war on the middle class". He believes that wages are being depressed and jobs are being taken away. He fails to awknowledge that our economy is at the highest peak it has ever been in history! He fails to awknowledge that the unemplyment rate has not changed to show this "loss of jobs". In fact unemployment is lower today than it was forty years ago! In fact if we rewinded forty years Lou Dobbs probably would be blaming black people for a loss of jobs. If all immigrants were removed the opposite effect would happen, our economy would crash! Fruits would rot in the fields and the already flailing housing market would be non-existent. Don't you remember who built your home Lou Dobbs?



3 - War against those who aid immigrants

Lou Dobbs has spoken out strongly against orgranizations, businesses and individuals who support immigrants. In his mind these people are only exascerbating the problem and they instead should be cracking down. In recent news he has been blasting New York for offering drivers licenses to immigrants. Stating that these people are being arrogant by "assuming they have the same rights as Americans." Should they instead say "Excuse me for driving my family to church, buying groceries, and dropping the kids off at school." Does he think Maria is going to do a drive by shooting on the way to work? He calls the Bank of America and other institutions that offer credit cards and home loans to immigrants sell outs. He claims they are waging war on the middle class. I guess having a home and having a safe place to store your finances are "American" rights only. He strongly supports city initiatives that make it criminal to give a ride to an immigrant. That is right, if you see Juan have a heart attack in the grocery store, do not drive him to the hospital or you could be arrested. It is better that he die because he doesnt the right to get a ride to the hospital and when he gets there Dobbs believes he does not have a right to healthcare. To sum it all up according to Dobbs immigrants do not have rights to be helped, own homes, work, have bank accounts, or drive to church. Bravo Mr. Dobbs. How can you consider yourself a christian?


4 - The call for a mass exodus

Hitler wanted all of the Jews out, Dobbs wants all of the immigrants out. Much like the deportation of jews, Dobbs believes immigrants should be arrested by the police for commiting a crime. In Hitlers time the crime was being Jewish, in our time the crime is being an immigrant. For many, like the Dream Act children, the choice to be an immigrant (like that of being jewish) was something that they were born into. Much like the jews suffered for existing within the borders, these kids will also suffer (admittedly on a lesser degree). Guiliani has spoken out citing that we have 2.5 million prisoners in all of our systems in the US. How is it logistically possible to deport 12 - 20 million people when we have a hard tiem keeping 2.5 million detained. It simply is not possible and would be a huge humanitarian crisis if we allowed it to happen.


5 - Promoting ideas in the name of patriotism

All of Lou Dobbs hatred filled speech that incites xenophobia across America is msaked in the name of patriotism. He riddles his show with remarks like a "true american" which implies that there are some Americans who are fake. I would like to meet some of these "fake Americans". Do they really exist? Mr. Dobbs you are not defending your nation by ranting about immigration. You are doing the very opposite. Our nation will be brought to its knees if immigration is ignored or if idiots in congress deem it viable to really crack down. The next generation of immigrants will by nature be American (born on American soil). This generation will be sub-American and by consequence of the policies you support would be in poverty. You think what you call drainging of resources by immigrants is bad now? Create this lower class and you will see the wrath of your own faults. Now you will have made a crisis Mr. Dobbs.



6 - ICE - Modern Day Gestapo?

The lie that is commonly accepted is that they are going after people who are a threat to national security. What is the truth is that they do not discriminate between drug smugglers and the man selling hot dogs on the side of the street. Parents have been taken in front of crying children who are then shoveled into the hands of social services. Much like the Gestapo, ICE is veiled in secrecy and their tactics are insidious. The ultimate goal is deportation and they will do this by any means possible. In many cases Americans who look Hispanic have been arrested because they could not produce "papers". Only later were they quickly released after it was shown that they are in fact citizens.

honestly, comparing someone to nazis has been very much overdone.

As a corollary, most people believe that the moment you compare someone/something to hitler/nazi's, you automatically lose a debate.

I mean, come on, Lou Dobbs is bad... but he isnt holocaust bad.

Mussolini was a journalist. I'm not saying that Dobbs is a fascist or that he'll ever become anything important, but I do agree with the comparisons made above. It's very true.

BTW did anybody here know that his wife is a Mexican..and she was stopped at an airport 2 yrs ago with a gun in her purse ...I read it somewhere on the internet.I will try to find this article and add a link here.Also he has two daughters who love Horse riding and guess who keeps them stables and grooms the horses...ya you got it right-ILLEGALS "from the other side of the border".

Can you post the SPECIFIC quotes of him saying these things??? That will be more believable and credible instead of just accusing him without any proof.
