Have you been paying taxes using a fake SSN? If that is the case, I would rather wait until the next tax year before filing under the new social. You are still paying taxes and being responsible.
Just keep your tax documents for when there is an Immigration Reform.
May I ask what your concern is with immediately changing the number to which you file taxes under?
