I've been seeing a lot of threads about possibly emigrating to Canada, Australia, France and others. It got me wondering the reason of our aversion against returning to the countries where we were born if it came down to leaving the US?

Personally, I wouldn't want to go back to Mexico and would choose instead another country...

Because Canada, Australia, and England speak English and are culturally similar to our home here in the US.

I would be a foreigner in my birth country. I wouldn't speak the language or really understand the culture. Just like here they don't look too kindly towards foreigners who don't speak their language or understand their culture.

Canada, England, and Australia are the closest you can get to the feeling of being home if you can't return to the real thing.

I would only emigrate to Canada because they talk English, i would have to go somewhere where they talk english, have adapted to a lot of the american cultures, maybe england maybe, but the reason why i also choose Canada is i hear they are lenient on immigration and getting a job sponsorship over there, I would not go back to my home country of The Philippines because it is like a downgrade, our country is very poor and there is no potential job growth for me as well as a future. people in my country would die for an opportunity that i have, at least im actually here in America even if i am a dreamie. So i would stay here as much as possible, but if i had to i would go to Canada!!.

Because my home country is riddled with corruption. It consistently ranks second in the UN's annual Corruption Index. I'd be stranger because I barely speak the language, and I'd be treated as a second class resident of the country. It would be impossible to find a job because all of jobs are reserved for the rich and political elite. I don't see myself working 18 hours a day sewing tennis shoes for a substandard living.

Mexico does not really pay teachers well... and if you thought America did not... Mexico is way worse.

Canada sounds like an attractive option for me if things don't work out within the next 2 years or so.

lets see... my brother and sister can't even get jobs in my country and they live there. i know the language, but not well enough to be able to work there even if i did get a job. i know more about american history than my own country's. i feel american and i want to stay here. if i go back home i'd probably just end up helping my parents with growing the crops and taking care of the pigs and chickens.

i'm going to stay as long as i can... just keep going to school and eventually get married.
