A chief Democratic proponent of immigration reform said Monday that both political parties, and President Obama, share equal blame for not dealing with the issue.

"I think shame on all of us,” Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (Ill.) said during an interview with Fusion’s Jorge Ramos.

President Obama said he would bring up immigration reform during his first year in office. That never happened. But after a bipartisan bill backed by Obama passed the Democratic Senate this year, the Republican-controlled House deemed it dead on arrival.

“The Democrats had a majority in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. We had the presidency and we had the Senate. And the president made a promise,” he added. “We didn't do anything. Shame on Republicans for following in that tradition of doing nothing at this particular point."....................

LOL, this is so embarassing...just stop with all the politricks. We get it...you politicians don't really want to do anything, we aren't stupid.

The year is done, let the horse stay dead for now...you guys have more than enough time January 2014 to November 2014 to beat each other up over CIR, and then the next year and then the next year ad infinitum.

The house is to blame here and only the house. For years they kept a fake hope going that they had something working on. Then they come and tell us they are just on the idea of considering a CIR?

I guess Luis hasn't heard of the filibuster. They couldn't even get the Dream Act past the Republicans in 2010, much less CIR. It was only 2012's election result that brought Senate Republicans to the table this year.

Exactly. House gang of seven or whatever they were called was such a joke. Apparently they were working behind the door for several years and not even a goddamn single bill to put on the table. Pretty good chances that GOP members of that group never really wanted anything to be done and kept stalling progress for one reason or another. Thank god for DACA. At least this time we can move forward with life until they pick up immigration issue next time.

Obama and everyone else did all they could to pass a CIR but ultimately the final decision was left in the house. The speaker chose not let a already senate voted version come through and played along the idea the house was working on their own version. He stalled enough and took advantage of everything that happened this year. Nothing will be done until he's replaced

The House Democrats refused to make that commitment, but despite pressure from Republicans — including Boehner — to speed up their bill, the negotiations dragged through May and June.
Schumer declined to comment for this article.

Multiple Democrats in the House group said they understood the concerns of McDonough and Schumer, but said the White House never took seriously their warnings that the House GOP would not accept the Senate bill and that the lower chamber needed its own bill to set up a conference committee.

“It is clear to me that there was no strategy on the White House’s part post-Senate victory. Because the Senate victory was the strategy,” Gutiérrez said.
They are all lying pieces of scum. Again, what are people like myself to do in the meantime? It is a rhetorical question. Maybe the White House will start saying "what part of this not being your country, do you not understand?" as the Justice Dept. likes to write on their appeals. Just go back and do a quick news review from January to October and your head will want to explode for the hypocrisy and cunning these politicians use, including Gutierrez and the rest of the DEMOCRATS. We were lied over and over again, from the most minuscule detail to the most significant.

Oh, and people were not going to be allowed to apply until two years after the shit bill was signed? WTF is that? I bet the idiot advocacy orgs in DC have a copy of the gang of 7 bill and were being used as paid loudmouths to help spread misleading information to the 11 million struggling in this situation. Shame on all of you, none of you have any credibility whatsoever.

I want to read the Gang of 7 bill.
