Hey Everyone. As the days pass by quickly I've been keeping an eye on my expiration date for my visa/work authorization permit. My question is based on the education requirements from the original DACA application. I graduated from college in 2012 and since then I haven't been able to find a job in my field (I did find a job in a completely unrelated field though). I've been taking online courses at a coding school called TeamTreehouse.com and I've been enjoying it. I've been enjoying it so much that I've been thinking about going back to school. I would need to get a whole new degree and in a completely unrelated field. That and I can't really afford school with all the bills I have. I did graduate debt free but I'm not sure where I would even go to take out loans since we're so limited and my credit is pretty shotty at best.

Anyway, the short story is that I'm worried I'll get rejected from DACA renewal because I haven't found a job in the field that I graduated in. What do you guys think? Is anyone else in this situation? Can anyone recommend a company or institution that offers loans to DACA students?

DACA isn't the dream act don't be such a worry wart. The education requirement for DACA was having a high school diploma/GED so as long as you satisfy the requirements (duh, you're approved) you should be able to renew. Just don't break the law and you're fine. Also, wait for USCIS to post the renewal thing (hopefully they will post that thing soon)

Which coding language are you currently perusing, incidentally?

I know CSS and HTML pretty well ( check out my website www.spinsomewebs.com). Lately I've been trying to learn Ruby and I applied to Appacademy and StartupInstitute. I have interviews for next week actually :]

Ah, front end. Learned the two as well a few years back. Keep building a profile of all the site you've designed - in some cases, it will count more than many certificates or degrees.

Current job involves running SQL scripts as test models. Pay is good. However, consultant company Ive been speaking with is giving me the opportunity to learn Java framework (struts, springs) in a 6 hour daily course for 5-6 weeks starting Feb. 22. In return, have to work with them for a year and sign a non-compete contract though.

Still, after that year, and with industry experience, salary is very considerable. All the top dollars non-management, entry level work seems to be in .Net and Java (+65k) for the most part. Front end web design for me was mostly 3-4 month contract , if that. Field tech work was more stable ironically, if working in a large deployment project, like EPIC.

Hope everything works out for you

This will be all for naught, if the renewal process never comes to pass...
