Hi guys,

I am going to apply to study abroad in France in the Spring 2015 semester.

I know it's relatively easy to get the advanced parole for this.

I have a valid passport from my country that will not expire until 2018.

How hard will it be to get a student visa from France? What else will I need?

Is it that easy to get AP now days? I thought you had to have an emergency, not wanting to go backpacking across europe (or studying). And you actually have that much money to leave the country, pay for housing and tuition in another country?

You can get AP "to travel abroad temporarily for humanitarian, educational, or employment purposes". I know someone here got it to study abroad in Germany, but he doesn't seem to be around anymore. It'll cost me about $10k - $12k in total. I'm more concerned about obtaining a French visa.

Has anybody gotten a summer internship abroad? What category will this fall into- educational or employment? Thank you!

My DACA expires on November 2014. I'm going to apply now for AP for the first half of 2015. Will it be a problem that the AP time is after my DACA expires? Obviously I will renew it but I will probably have to apply for AP before I get renewed.

The AP afaik will only be valid as long as the status or non-status you hold.Wait until after, and the question concerning France accepting AP for the purposes of gaining a visa while inside the US is true from what I've read.
Quote:
A valid U.S. permanent residence card ("green card") or a valid US visa with valid I-94 / valid I-20 (+ ONE COPY) , or an Advance Parole document.

So will I automatically get denied for AP if I apply before renewing? Or can they still accept it, and then it's my responsibility to make sure I'm renewed when I travel?

Also, I will need the long stay visa:

If you are not a U.S. citizen: A valid U.S. permanent residence card ("green card") or a valid U.S. visa with valid I-94 or valid I-20 (original + 1 photocopy

Damn!!!

Edit: at least two other sources I looked at confirmed that I can actually use AP for the long stay visa.

The time period for AP being active and approved won't go beyond your authorized legal stay under DACA.I'm not saying I'm certain, but I'm just saying I don't see USCIS granting the ability to travel while your authorized stay in the US might be in doubt. If your DACA expires there is technically no reason to authorize travel under AP.

It also says Advanced Parole would be valid for this purpose of authorizing a French visa while inside the US judging from the language. However,as mentioned USCIS will not likely issue AP unless you have an authorized stay inside the US.
