For those students willing to start building your credit with a credit card should look into Discover. I was denied with Capital One and my local bank, but Discover approved me with $1000 credit limit. If you join and make your first purchase we both get $50 in cash rewards. http://bit.ly/1fbN3Yi

That's pretty cool! I've had a secured credit card for over a year and I apply to other credit cards and haven't been approved! Not even for a store credit card like Macy's or anything!

I don't know if it's because the system can't match my Last names to my social or what...

I feel like having a hyphenated last name is the issue, but I don't know. Even though, I like having my both last names...I feel like it's more of a trouble...
I don't know if I should write a space, a hyphen or just put both of the together as one! IDK!
Suggestions?

Yea Discover approved me too.

I got declined by Capital One for a credit card, so I decided to just wait for credit card offers in the mail that would come automatically.

Discover was the first to send me an invitation to try them out and I was all over it.

The card is great too, their 5% cash reward program is pretty cool, and I got some nice cash rewards back for my purchases so far.

I didn't have to for the Discover It card I applied for.

Just had to fill out the normal stuff like income, SSN, name etc.

Don't apply too often and don't apply more than 4 times in two years. if you get mailed in offers they're worth a look.

also put your household income not your estimated income.

Same story with me. After one month of usage with discover I was able to get a banana republic store card.

Put down your name exactly as it is shown on your Social Security card, if you have 2 last names include them on credit applications.
