So I looked up www.dreamact.info on quantcast

http://www.quantcast.com/dreamact.info Rank: 250,627 An average of 4,791 people visit this site every month (not the forum) We get casual lookers, but not and only a minuscule number of addicts.

compare with Lou Dobbs
http://www.quantcast.com/search/www.loudobbs.com Rank: 1,375,797 Less than 2000 people visit his site every month

Even the daily show
http://www.quantcast.com/search/www.dailyshow.com Rank: 2,205,460 Less than 2000 people visit their site every month

These are rough estimates of the traffic the front page gets. We clearly need to update the front page of this site ASAP!!! We are popular on the web, let's use to spread the word and educate people about DREAM!

Another issue:
People aren't making it back to the forum where the activism is occurring.
We only have about a 100 members or so and over 4,000 who visit the site. We need to bring those numbers closer.

I suggested before that we should make every user mandatory to log on in order to view and post.

Yes, the interface of the front page doesn't suggest an active forums, organizing, support group oriented site.
We need to stop depending on one person to update it (I have a lot of web design skills); and lets POOL our resources
and do what we can do best. A lot of important sections seem to be permanently under construction.

No, then people wouldn't bother looking at our posts or arguments. Casual observers would just navigate away from the page. We need to convince the casual observer of the merits of our position.

logging on to the website takes less then 15 secs, if they don't want to even devote 15 secs to our common goal, why do we want them here in the first place ?

Idea I'm not sure about: Use our popularity to gets ads which would fund scholarships for undocumented students?

YES, I agree 100%.

Nick, is there any way you can allow someone else to get some admin access so they can modify the main page sections? We could really benefit from putting the FAQs or some quotes from the Times and the Journal on the front page.

I nominate this as the number one priority for the site right now.

yea its cuz the front page looks dead and it doesnt attract anyone to look any deeper for the real good stuff. they see old news being posted, assume the site is dead, and move on. before coming to the forum, i checked that front page a lot and left every time. then i was bored one day and decided to click on the other links.
