2014 Commercial Driver License

I would like to get one in order to drive an 18-wheeler. I am currently studying the book.

The clerk at the TX DPS seemed certain I would be able to take the knowledge tests with a work permit, but I also assume that they must also not be so knowledgeable. In either case I am studying.

Has anyone gotten a Class A CDL in Texas, Cali, or somewhere else?

I believe we are able to get it but the question is will you get hired by a company to drive 18 wheelers with you work permit.

I plan on trying to go for the knowledge exams at the end of the month, that is if I don't procrastinate. Ill see how it goes.

Update 3/18
I took the Texas laws and combination written exams and they issued me a learning permit. They did tell me that I will need the passport and i797 for the other 3 written exams. I will either do them at the end of the week or the end of the month.

update 3/24 In order to do the other exams, I was told that I must do a medical certification; which is essentially a physical and drug test at a place approved by the Department of transportation. I plan to do it sometime this week.

update 6/26 . I passed my road test yesterday. They took my driving permit, and issued me a "non-resident" texas CDL class A. It expires on October, the same month as my DACA
