Hi all,

I'm new to this forum but I have been browsing this forums for a few months and finally decided to join in.

I know there have been countless topics on flying undocumented and the risks.

I am undocumented and don't qualify for DACA because I came to this country when I was 17 years old.

I will get my Nicaraguan passport soon, of course with no U.S. Visa. I have a student ID from San Francisco State University.

I also work as an Immigrant Rights Organizer with FAME, a faith based organization, and they are planning to fly me to Chicago this June for a conference.

I'm terrified! Please offer some helpful tips. Is Amtrak safer?

Is it true that flying from regional airports is safer?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

I flew one time to Florida. I live in PA. I was 13 years old and I received a temporary EAD. I did not have a passport nor an ID but I had the EAD and they let me through. I think they only allow you to pass through the gates if you have a government issued ID. Student ID and Nicaragua passport I think is not considered. I may be wrong but that is what I know.

Thanks for your answer!

I have heard of people flying sucesfully just using their passport, but I also heard it was risky. I have the option of flying from regional airports if that is safer, even though is a bit more expensive!

You should be fine. I flew countless times for work with my mx passport before daca. If you are not on the FBI/DEA list you are good!

it is not a problem as long as you have a valid (non expired) ID. I used my passport (with no visa) no problem for dozens of flights pre daca. Don't be nervous, just be friendly.

PS. i only flew international airports

Thanks Fenton!

I'm pretty excited about traveling. It's been 11 years since I flew!

In the past before DACA I flew form SFO to Chicago Midway with just Mex. passport and I had no problems. Also, I flew from Oakland and San Jose airpots to IN and KY several times with just passport and had no issues. In MY experience TSA checks to make sure you passport is legit and let you in. Again, this is only from personal experience. Hope it helps!

I flew like 2 times per month. CBP is only at a certain terminal and only in international flight arrivals. Just show your boarding pass with passport. TSA is familiar with all passports. Ive been to 33 US states so ive been to lots of airports. Like i said you will be fine unless you are wanted by the fbi. Make sure your boarding pass matches your name on passport.

Does anyone here have experience flying from regional airports? I'm really considering flying from and to regional airports if that is more secure, even if it is more expensive.
