I wanted to share my story to encourage those who are in similar situations and are in doubt about applying to take a step and do it.

I like many was hesitant to apply being that the president was up for re-election at the time and the uncertainty of a 2nd term. On top of that at the time I was in a long term relationship with my girlfriend which I felt confident would lead to marriage and placed my faith on that route.

It seems God had other plans in mind, unfortunately my fiancé and I split and the president won his 2nd term so it felt like confirmation. The only opportunity to resolve my situation was DACA.

Even at this point I was skeptical I would even qualify for the following reasons:

First of all I MARGINALLY met the DACA age limit by 2 weeks, and Secondly I had been arrested and charged with a DUI which I fought in court and had a great lawyer who was able to prove my innocence.

Before applying I took a lot of time reading endless posts and different forums regarding the opinion of others who were in similar situations, but didn't find all that much. I decided to go forward with the request and hired an attorney to handle my case.

I'm happy to report that after patiently waiting 9 months I was approved for DACA!

It took 2 e-requests and 1 Ombudsman request but I finally received it!

I encourage those who are in similar situations to not be discouraged there is an opportunity its not an automatic NO even if you have been arrested.

I'm more than happy to answer any questions

Yup, the advise my attorney provided is along the lines that the only way to know whether you get approved or denied is to apply.

You have no idea how inspiring your story is to me right now. I am feeling hopeless and kind of expecting the worst at this point. Would you mind telling me what service center you got? I applied two months after you so I am hopeful I will get approved soon! thank you very much for sharing this

Another thing I want to ask you (sorry) could you tell us what were some of the responses you got from your e-requests before getting approved? I did my first e-request 3 weeks ago and just want to compare their answers maybe I'll get something positive
