My original application was processed and submitted by an attorney. This time around for the renewal, I would like to renew the documents myself.

Where do I get these documents? If I ask the attorney that I used, will they provide me with the documents? Or will they hold back and try to get me to renew my DACA with them and charge me $$$? Is there anything I can say if they do that?

The reason why I want my original application is because I don't really know what the attorney filled out, and I want to keep things consistent (e.g., address of residency, years in above address, eyes color, etc)

Thanks

You don't need the old application to complete the renewal. If for whatever reason you want it, call to see if your attorney still has your file or you'll have to request a FOIA, but that will take time.

It depends on your lawyer, if he or she is a shady character they will try to get more money out of you. There are some good lawyers out there who will send you pdf copies for free, send them an email or call and ask if you can get copies.

And by the way those questions about eye color, height, etc, were not on the original form so just fill those out as accurate as possible.

You only have to state the addresses you've lived it SINCE getting your DACA. If you haven't moved at all, leave them all black EXCEPT for the present addresses part. If you have only moved once, put your last address and the present one with approximate dates.

And for the eye color and etc.. Put what u have on ur DL

Request the old copy from your lawyer, he should have it.

If not, i assume he filled out all the questions based on what YOU told him, which i also assume is the truth so there's really no need to look at the old application to fill out the new one.

It's a much simpler application for renewals.

Thanks for the replies. I got in touch with the attorney, and she had my original files and all correspondence scanned and sent to my email.

I wasn't sure what exact date I wrote down for my current address in the original 821D since I have been living in the same house for the past 7+ years.

Also, after following the threads in this forum for a while, I noticed that certain fields in my original application were incorrect (e.g. Country of Residency should have been USA and not my country of citizenship, etc.) My 765WS was also filled out so poorly; it seemed like an 8th grader wrote the explanation. I am surprised this attorney has over 5 different offices across the states, books, and other publications.

I guess if you are submitting your applications and did not have any trouble with the cops or left the country, you are better off doing your research and submitting everything yourself.
