Hello guys

I'm attending pharmacy school this Fall and I just submitted my loan application for discover student loan as an international student. Fortunately, me and my PR cosigner (my uncle) has passed the credit check and I've sent them I-766 (EAD) along with some consent forms and waiting for them to verify my documents. I'm worrying that since we are DACA status, they will ask for I-20 or valid visa as necessary document. I've been contacting school's financial office regarding this matter and they say they will keep an eye on my application when bank process. Do you guys think I should mention about DACA if they ask for additional document regarding my immigration status or should I just say EAD is renewable for two years.. and something like that. I'm worried if they would deny my loan application due to "deferred action" and limited term as EAD document presents. If any of you guys have experience with private student loan let me know!

Thanks in advance!

I would try searching "Discover student loan" in this forum. I've seen this question posted before. Good luck! I'll need a loan for nursing school as well.

Hi, I applied for Discover student loan last year and was approved with a co-signer. I think they considered me as resident and not international. I never mentioned about DACA because they never asked for, I just emailed them the information they asked me such as ID and SSN

Thanks for the info. I did apply as international student but they asked me i-766 (EAD) as immigration document. So I just provided them and never mentioned anything about DACA. Today they asked me to send the back side copy of EAD, which I didn't two days ago along with social security card. While the specialist told me they will contact the school for certification once these documents are received. I'm hoping they won't question me such as valid visa and I-20 stuff

Helping your child apply for financial aid can be time-consuming and confusing. A student loan is designed to help students pay for university tuition, books, and living expenses. It may differ from other types of loans in that the interest rate may be substantially lower and the repayment schedule may be deferred while the student is still in school. It also differs in many countries in the strict laws regulating renegotiating and bankruptcy.

Well good luck sdh02. As I said, I wasn't ask too much information, my application went smooth, I did have to wait for school certification as well because they want to verify you're actually enrolled in school and the actual cost of tuition and fees.

Did you applied over the phone or online? One of the very first question if you're applying online is on your status. There's only three option which are Citizen, Resident or International so I'm curious to know how you ended not applying as an international student. I'm currently looking to apply for a loan myself.

I called, I had a U.S citizen cosigner. I was not considered as an international student because I do not have a student visa.
