Sorry. I get google alerts.

Anyway, this is from the Charlotte Observer (NC). It depresses me to see this in kids so young. Hopefully someone will knock some sense into them.

http://www.charlotte.com/613/story/405680.html

Some gems:

Quote:
Haleigh Foster, 14, Sun Valley High School, Monroe: I think that our state officials need to remember that illegal means "against the law". To offer benefits, such as an education, to those who are in this country "against the law" is sending the message that our laws have no meaning. Community colleges in N.C. are supported by tax dollars. Illegal immigrants pay no taxes, therefore, why should they be entitled to a state-funded education? If living as Americans is so important to these individuals, they should follow the process to become legal citizens.
Illegal is illegal. Illegals don't pay taxes.

Quote:
Khevna Desai, 15, School of Math, Engineering, Technology, and Science @ Olympic High School, Charlotte: When illegal immigrants cross the border with their children, they are risking their child's future. Sure it's not the child's fault that their parents crossed but their parents should have thought about how their actions are going to affect their child. I do not think that community colleges should admit illegal immigrants because they're illegal. They shouldn't be in the country in the first place. I agree with the critics when they say that it is a misuse of tax dollars and state facilities. That would be a consequence for everyone affected.
I know it's not your fault, but we're going to punish you anyway, even though we have the power not to.

Quote:
Kathleen Brien, 13, Smith Academy of International Languages, Charlotte: I don't agree with letting illegal immigrants in two year colleges. We shouldn't permit those who are cheating our county and themselves to learn our languages and culture. Immigrants can contribute to our society, but if they're sneaking in, what makes you want them leading your children? I'm not saying illegal immigrants are horrible, but even the US has rules. If we allow them in, but they're caught, nothing good will lie ahead for them. Although culture should be shared, even freedom has a price.
Not sure what this guy is saying, but...We shouldn't let them learn our language and our culture? lmao! Watch her also be like, "why won't they speak English and assimilate??"

There are some good eggs:

Quote:
Seth Dixon, North Stanly High School, New London: Since the war with Iraq is still going on, more money is needed to keep everyone happy. This might just be a whole new way for money to keep coming. Just because a person came from a different country or state doesn't mean that they should be treated with disrespect. People are people, no matter the place they came from or how they came.
Quote:
Je'Waun Richardson, 15, North Stanly High School, New London: Sharing a border with Mexico can be tough, but I don't think sharing a class room with the inhabitants of our neighboring countries should be such a hassle. Children should never be punished for the decisions that their parents make. Illegal aliens in the country with their parents should be helped to better themselves academically. The policy of out of state tuition in a community college is in a quandary about making the amount higher for these scholars. I understand this could create countering stipulation from U.S. citizens that have to pay this out of state fee to attend a college in a separate state than their residence versus someone here illegally who doesn't.
Quote:
Carolina Valder, 13, Smith Academy of International Languages, Charlotte: I think that it would be better if two-year colleges can admit illegal immigrants into their school. The kids would get a better education and a better job. If the immigrants don't get into school, there's a big chance that they wouldn't get a good job, and that would lead to financial problems. Then the immigrants might have to do something illegal to survive. These kids are already labeled as "dangerous" and money wasting. Why not change it? People would be better off if the illegal immigrants had a good education.
also, lol @ 13-15 year olds trying to use big words.

This is such BS. Kids this age don't give a shit about politics or issues. They are being spoon fed lines.

Unless it's about how they can get their hands on a Wii, they don't care.

okay now that was funny.

My personal favorites:

Quote:
Summer Maiden, North Stanly High School, New London: If you do something illegal, you're supposed to serve consequences. Letting illegal immigrants do the same daily agenda as us Americans is like letting rapists and child molesters roam free in our town and parks without punishment. I see where the question would come in to play about the illegal immigrant's children, but the children are also illegal, so they are just as in the wrong. What about the people who have already gone to college and paid the out-of-state tuition? It's not fair for the former immigrants who didn't get a financial break for the present immigrants to receive special treatment. They aren't really any benefits that could come out of this besides giving special treatment to people who don't deserve it. In this situation, the bad outweighs the good by far, all you really can get is angry people, rich illegal immigrants, and one messed up country. No, I do not think that illegal immigrants should get in-state tuition.
Quote:
Anacelia Garriga, Grandview Middle School, Hickory: I think they shouldn't let people from out of the country go to two year colleges like CVCC. The reason why I said no is that if we go over Iraq and we go to school there it is going to cause a lot of violence, and the same thing here in the US is going too. It is going to cause a lot of violence, and a lot of crimes.
^ like that one the most.

Quote:
Lacie Wallace, 13, Smith Academy of International Languages, Charlotte: I'm aware that many think immigrants only want to improve, but that's not the case for all immigrants. There are many immigrants who have taken the initiative to become legal; why can't the rest? The immigrants who are too lazy to legalize themselves don't deserve to crowd the spots of the legal immigrants who only want to learn. Illegal's need to step up and do the right thing. No country or legal hardworking person can afford to spoon feed wrong-doers and law breakers.
ahhh children are so adorable.

Hey let's all go to college and commit crimes since we're dangerous!

Are these coming from the same crowd that can't pass a state English exam? The only thing that surprises me is that when Britney shaved her head some teens actually didn't. Hmmm...a glimmer of hope for future generations?

BTW, Summer Maiden IS a stripper name, right?

""Robbie Schronce, 11, Grandview Middle, Hickory: I think that the school systems 58 colleges should not admit illegal immigrants. They could bomb the college. There have already been a lot of colleges attacked. The one in Virginia got attacked. The shooter shot 56 teens and killed himself.""

I feel soo sorry for this kid who made this comment above...LOL....since when they started taking opinions of 11 year olds....If I am not mistaken the shooter was a permanent resident. I pray to god to give these @$$holes anti-immigrant americans some brain so they could differentiate between Psycho legal shooters nd hardworking undocumented students. I swear if he would have said that infront of me..i surely would have bombed this little prick's home..lol..jk

I've still got some hope for them since I said stupid shit like, "illegal immigrants should be deported because they use our services and don't pay taxes and and that's why schools suck" when I was their age, and I wised up. My name is almost as bad as Summer Maid, too.
