Our unfair, inhumane, broken immigration system
Serious question, what is broken about the USA not wanting to give work permits (or green cards) to people who enter the country illegally? It has one of the most open family-based immigration systems in the developed world.

The warrant is created by the arresting officers *after* you are taken into custody - to legally validate your detention. Happened to me and my family. It's happened to millions; all they need is reasonable suspicion of unauthorized status or "evidence", aka, you are asked if you have status, and you don't, of course you say 'no'. Everyone knows how the rest of the story goes...

Yeah, me neither. But not receiving a green card or work permit after entering the country illegally or overstaying is NOT a broken immigration system.

One problem with the system is that even if you try to do things legally, as you wait for 15 years for one family member's petition to kick in, other family members who would have qualified originally will age out.

Yes, but what does that have to do with entering illegally or overstaying and then requesting legal status?

I am just trying to make a point that a lot of arguments that are made are just so bad. Like when people say things similar to "I majored in X from X University" as if it meant something. Saying that the aging out part is broken I can understand, but saying that immigration is broken after entering the country illegally or overstaying is just so wrong...
