Hi, I'm currently attending Baruch College majoring in Finance. I'm currently a DACA holder since 2012 and currently renewed my DACA so will be good till 2016. I was just wondering if there were any finance graduates who were able to get a good paying job with the degree since i been reading a lot of bad things reading people with DACA not being able to get good paying jobs because of our status

You should be fine, company are not allowed to discriminate in regards to status as long as you have work authorization unless they can prove that US citizenship is required for the job, i.e. you need security clearance in order do your job, etc. As such, you will be fine. I got a good paying finance job ~$80,000 a year with DACA, so you will be fine as well. Just work on building your professional network.

Hello, fellow Baruchian here.

I majored in MBA with concentration in CIS and Finance. Found a job at one of the Big 4 through on-campus recruitment. No questions asked and I was recently asked if I needed visa assistance.

What did you say to the visa assistance? I thought we could not be sponsored.

You need to ready the job description and when answering questions in you application, make sure you are honest. They should only need to know about your ability to legally work in the US... and that is a yes or no.

Dont go telling people during you interview that you have daca or your EAD will expire on XX-XX-XXXX. If asked say that you are legally allowed to work in the US and will not need sponsorship. They should not ask about you immigration status at all unless the job description says US citizens only or stuff like that.

When you are doing your I-9 is when your immigration status and expiration date should come up.

Its illegal to discriminate against people based on their immigration status.

If you're aiming for a big company, unless the job description says "for permanent residents or USC" you should be fine.

Any big company has an HR department that knows that there will be lawsuit if they discriminate against you based on your status.

Small companies (boutiques) however, is often run by one owner and he tends to do everything (including hiring process) and they don't have much knowledge regarding discrimination law. So they tend to do things in their own way about your status.
