Hey guys..

I am trying to buy/sell stocks on TD Ameritrade.
Do I fall under a resident alien individual?

It says not to use W-8BEN if I am a USC, U.S. person or a resident alien.

Any one successful of becoming a member? or suggestion?

Thanks in advance.

I opened an account at etrade.com Once you open your account and deposit money, they will put a lock on your account and request SS card and State ID.
I sent it over via fax (internet) number they provided and they processed it within 24 hours. Since then, I opened Roth IRA account and finally few days ago opened another investment account to play around with. Etrade.com will advise you on where to invest based on your goal.

I recently purchased "stock market investing" by Jason Kelly. Very easy to understand and its actually real fun to read. You should check it out on amazon.com

BTW, I don't know jack shit about investing. That's why I think it's really important to start now and start investing for my retirement.

Thanks brother. Actually I'm not sure if you're aware of Udemy but there's this course that is going for $11 dollars at the moment because of black friday Orig. 899 I think. It is by Travis Wilkerson.

Also, I'm assuming Ameritrade did not go through or did you try applying at all?

I did not after finding out about the requirement bs by TDameritrade. Etrade.com was much easier to do and both them are basically same stuff. I think TD supports virtual mock up trading which i will never use anyway...

Can you tell me more about the 11 dollar deal? I would love to join you.

That's a shame. Oh well.

Well Udemy is a pot of gold. They have all these courses you can take and can interact with other students and even the professor. I've taken various courses but this one in particular I waited for the Thanksgiving special because I knew the prices would go down quite a bit.

Anyhow, here's the course: https://www.udemy.com/opminicourse/

The special started yesterday at $10 when i bought it and it will go up in price everyday until the 28th i believe. The reason why i asked about Ameritrade is because that is the one that the professor uses in the course. I suggest you to buy it and also browse the site for other courses.

For Etrade, did you open the account as a U.S Resident or Non-U.S resident? I'm also looking into Charles Schwab.

Don't mess with stocks without the proper knowledge. Until then, invest in high return mutual/index funds.
