Long story short, my new EAD got lost in the mail and I sent in a replacement application a couple weeks ago. I don't have the approval letter or any copies but I do have a picture of the front of the new EAD card. And I have my old, expired EAD card.

I wasn't sure if I should still apply for jobs because companies always ask for original documents. But I know I have been approved for employment and who knows how long the replacement process will take?

Well I had an interview recently and they sent me a background check email shortly after. It only asked me for things like my address and SSN. I passed.
When I went in for the orientation, I gave the guy my ID, SSN card, and my old expired EAD card. I also pulled out the picture of my new EAD and told him that I didn't have my new card but I do have a picture of it and is that okay. He BARELY glanced at it, told me the old card was fine, and that was that.

By the way, this is a well-known, big American company. The guy was not an HR person but he was a manager.

So long story short, if you are waiting for a replacement EAD and scared you won't get hired because you don't have the original card, just try. The worst they can do is say no and some people are more lenient/understanding than others!

Hope that helps someone!

That's a situation I'm in right now. I never received my replacement card or the approval letter even though the USPS says it was delivered on Oct 6. My old EAD expired Oct 14. I applied for a renewal, paid another $465 and received the Notice of Action on Oct 29. I'm still waiting for the biometrics letter and I'm starting to get a little nervous it's taking so long. The service rep I called yesterday said it could take up to 30 days.

Anyway on Monday I went for a job interview and the manager seems interested in me. He asked for my references and now I'm waiting to hear back from him. If he decides to hire me I'll have to explain my situation and I do hope he understands.

Btw I think it's a complete nonsense that we have to go through the process all over again when the card was not delivered/lost in the mail. Why can't they just print a new card and mail it out? If you lose your driver license they don't make you take the driving test again, so why is this so complicated? Until I get a new card I'm left with nothing.

Btw how did you get a picture of your new EAD card if it was lost in the mail?

You applied for replacement EAD? You can try an expedite it. Took a week for me to get approved upon submitting a expedite request.

Also, you don't have to take biometrics again.

How do you expedite it? I don't want to spend another couple hundred dollars on a lawyer. It's been exactly 3 weeks now since I received the notice of action. Any idea how much longer the process is going to take?

Also, on the notice of action it says the next step is to have my biometricts taken. You guys are saying it won't be necessary? So I'm now waiting to get approved and they'll send the EAD card to me?

Call customer service and tell them you would like to submit a request to expedite your EAD replacement. When contacting USCIS they will ask you the reason why you want to expedite my case. You can see the list on the USCIS website. I chose severe financial loss. Upon submitting my request I had to submit supporting documents for severe financial loss. Documents I submitted were bills and a letter from HR that I was at risk of losing my job. One week later I was approved and took about a month, but I took to weeks to submit my request. maybe I could've been approved sooner.

Also, since I completed my biometrics back in June for my EAD renewal I didn't have to do them again. I never received an appointment letter. You can also confirm this with a level two immigration supervisor.
