So I was shopping for health insurance and I was inbetween Humana and United healthcare. I went with United healthcare. I was expecting to pay crazy prices but they told me that I may qualify for a subsidy under the new healthcare law. So I was hesitant at first but I did it anyways. So they asked me if I was a resident or a citizen which I said no. I explained them what I was deferred action and they said "that works". After an hr and half on he phone I got health and dental for a cool $120. I've read several threads here saying we don't qualify but apparently we do since we pay taxes.

I wouldn't do that if I were you. You're not a citizen and you're taking advantage of a service meant for citizens and PR's. This will effect you negatively if/when you try to obtain citizenship.

I never stated I was one to them. They have deferred action on their system because they were the ones to bring that up.

The only insurance you can't get is anything under Obama care. So I think you'll be fine.

No it's under United healthcare. They gave me a discount because my income was under 40k. They said its because of the healthcare laws.

From what I understand, we can't participate through the health care exchange website aka obamacare website to shop for lower prices or get subsidies. But we can get private healthcare directly through the provider which is what you did OP
