So I saw my lawyer today...He's a bit on the expensive side but he's been good to our family (3 for 3 with the complicated green card cases). I'm going to pay him the $2500 fee (not all at once) and they'll get the stuff ready for when the official form and requirements are announced. They will take care of the forms, decide what to send in, and anytime I need anything I can email the lawyer in charge of my case. Oy.

Wow that is steep! Does it include the fees that USCIS requires? I suspect it doesn't even include those :/...

I would wait IamAman and look at what the exact parameters are and how the form looks.

If its pretty much just like DACA forms and parameters, and you know you have all the proofs for the parameters, then I would tell you to do it yourself.

Up to you though in the end, good luck, happy for you and everybody else that have their chance now to move on with their lives

Hope Congress passes immigration reform soon too, I don't want to see another immigration politricks battle in 2016 even when I believe Democrats will win the presidency again because of it. I would rather have reform passed and let the Democrats and Republicans fight it out over everything else.

Well, I'm not as smart as you I guess. There are so many smart people who did their applications on here and then come back and say "They're asking for more information! I have to wait 6 more months now!" Really smart.

If I didn't have the money, had never been in the immigration system, lived with my parents and all I had was time, and had nothing to lose, I would have done it myself too, but this is a very established lawyer with about 3 decades of immigration work under his belt who has seminars for other immigration lawyers and will review all the information I give them to make sure I don't accidentally shoot myself in the foot by giving too much information or too little.

I can email the associate lawyer in charge of my case any time I have a question, if I need to know where to go for bio-metrics, they'll cover all the mailings, copying, etc. and I'll sleep a little easier at night knowing that while the rest of the over 30 +dreamers are waiting for the official registration to start before they get their info together, my lawyer will already have all the information ready and will send it out a week after it's announced to get ahead of the backlog.

Even if I end up getting my work permit a month earlier than I would have if I did it myself, it's worth the $2500 to me both financially because it will let me get in the legit workforce a month early and it makes me happy that I did absolutely everything in my power to be on top of this. Once my family sponsorship becomes current in about 4 years (or 8, who knows at this point), my lawyer will have all my info on file so I will save money at the tail end too.

I hope he enjoys that $2500 and buys his girlfriend a nice necklace or blows it all in a strip club. He deserves it and I'm happy to help him.

So what have you done with your life? I read some of your older posts and it seems you were in the same boat as me being aged out. I guess let's find out who gets their paperwork first. Let's see how common your sense is.

Of course, the official parameters are not out but on the DACA side, all they did was remove the age limit so more than likely the requirements will be nearly identical with a few dates changed around. It would take me a couple of weeks just to get the things together and another week for the lawyer to go through it to decide what to send and what not to send. UCIS has about 80 days to put out the official parameters but it's possible to do it earlier too.

Considering your other post and your immigration history, getting the lawyer seems like a good idea. If you can afford it and it makes you a little less anxious, then go for it.

Best wishes!
