What do you guys think is the likeliness of DACA being taken away from us? By 2016, it will be four years since DACA was introduced and many of us will be productive members of this country and our effect will be noticed - this will cause a lot of debate. IF no immigration law is passed, do you think DACA will be the new TPS where we'll have to renew every 2-3 years?

I said this in the many other threads asking the same thing. I wont tailor it to your specific question

Quote:
Nothing at all. Unless congress somehow made it that uscis has to share info with ICE and ICE decides to deport everyone but even then I don't see this happening.

But yeah the next president could sign DACA away just as easily as how Obama signed it into action. So don't be 100% reliant on DACA to solve all of your problems. After all DACA isn't a solution to this immigration problem but a small relief or a postponement. DACA after all is just another deferred action. You are being deferred from being deported if ICE decides to do it.

Now, we don't know exactly what will happened but at the very worst, we would just gained our status before DACA. So I would stay cleared of problems that could trigger them actually deporting you. DUI, possession of drugs/guns ect. But it's all up the next president and what they're position is. With republicans controlling congress , I wouldn't be surprised if the next president did.
The is also the possibility that they just close DACA and continue just accepting renewals applications.

As many here have said, there have been some similar programs that are still active. And DACA coud just turn into something else and maybe just maybe congress could grant DACA a LPS.

the only way daca(and the expanded one)go away if its replaced by congressional action. the eo's are very much political actions to force republicans into action and putting the pressure on them. the eo's are the same as the healthcare bill. put enough people under it to the point where taking it away is just not politically feasible.

In the meantime, I am more concerned about the recent court decision. It does NOT affect DACA currently but it does set up the precedent to be.

Likely depends how things turn out this presidential election.
After a while DACA will be old news and it'll probably be safer like current TPS.
My guess atleast. Still not good enough of a reason to avoid applying ,if that's where you were going with it.

Its unlikely to be taken away - any administration that does so will not only suffer backlash from the migrant community, but also internal dissent from USCIS and the Dept. of Homeland Security. Remember, USCIS is getting fat from all the renewal payments we have to make every three years.

Remember though, this can also be a double edged sword. USCIS might oppose immigration reform if it decreases the amount of people paying the renewal fees substantially.

This is more of what I'm looking for.

I know for a fact DACA can be taken away, that's not my question. It's more about how ethical it would be for the next administration to take it away and how realistic that would be. I also agree with what Knight says that it will suffer a significant backlash from the community. Then again nothing is set on stone.

Well the house just voted to freeze DACA today. Hopefully this doesn't open doors to stop DACA in general.

The time is now my DACA holding Amigos and Habbibies. You have some legal status now so now's the time to tell your citizen friends and family how important this is to you and if they're sympathetic, get them to register to vote. The line has been drawn today by the Republicans. There shouldn't be any doubt left in your mind about what Republicans think of immigrants. Even Republicans like Jeb Bush who talk nicely about immigrants will have to deal with their anti-immigrant party so don't believe a damn word they say. Remember how much Rubio was "pro immigration"? All it takes is some negative feedback from the Tea Party and they roll over.

The 2016 election (both presidential and local races) is going to be the single biggest election for us. Keep the presidency and congress and we'll likely have CIR. Keep the presidency and keep congress the way it is now then at best you can keep DACA. Lose the presidency? Kiss your precious driver's license, work permit, and freedom to live your life without fear of deportation goodbye.
