Hi guys...

Has anybody here been denied an application for CCs because of not being a permanent resident? I applied at Wells Fargo and a letter came back saying that they needed me to send them a copy of my SSN to verify my identity. Since my SSN card has a note on it, I also sent them a copy of my EAD. Today, I just found out that I got denied because I wasn't a permanent resident. WTF???
Also, when they asked in the application if I was a permanent resident, I clicked YES because I thought they meant it for tax purposes. Now I'm worried it'll count against me.

Has anyone gone thru this before?
Anyone knows where I can apply for a CC with no hassle?

It's up to the discretion of the bank to approve you or not but there is no explicit rule that says you cannot get a CC because you are not a PR. I have 12 credit cards and have been asked to send in copy of my ssn and ID for 3 of them, I got approved for all but I also have a 770 Fico score. So don't be discouraged, apply for them online. I have cards from Chase Bank, Bank of America, Capital One, Barclays, Home Depot. Never applied to Wells Fargo (mainly cause all their cards suck and have no decent rewards). Good luck!

Apply for BoFA CC, they're pretty easy to get approved for. Same for Discover.

They were sending me letters and denied me. I from now on will take the business reply envelopes from them and send them in empty. Either that or I'll put some random papers in there just so they'll go like "...oh...".

I've had several banks send me letters saying I met the basic info to apply for one. I went online and signed up for capital one. They approved me right away and got a card 3 days later. Been using it lately and have a great credit score tracker.
I also been approved by a credit Union bank for a loan.

Same here, I applied online for a CapitalOne Platinum secured card and was approved for $300 credit. I just got my card 2 days ago, love the credit tracker. Its a small limit but I'll make sure to use it right and start building my credit. There's also an annual fee of $19 however the first year is free, I'm hoping to build some credit to jump to another card before the year is up.

Wells Denied me for a Student card - said my only option was to get a Secured Card. When I asked if they'd eventually let me upgrade to a regular card, they said not until I was at least a PR.

I said FTS

Looked online, applied for Capital One Journey. Approved Instantly. A year I decided to shop around for a better card since the Journey is a basic cashback program. Applied for AmexEveryday and was approved in a few days.

A buddy of mine was offered a BoA CC, was approved without a hitch.

I know a lot of folks, students especially find it easy to get approved for Discover, but I was denied by them when I applied for their student card.
