I recently had a job interview with Macys. I think I did pretty well on the interview as I was able to answer all the questions very accurately. I was dressed appropriately and looked very professional. I got an email stating that they will no longer consider me for employment due to a : " conflict of interest with your current employer."

I work part time at The Home Depot. I am at a loss as to why they would say that. I have open availability with Home Depot and can work any hours with them. I told the person that interviewed me that if hired I could arrange the hours so that I could work part time with Macys. I made that perfectly clear and she seemed to be ok with it.

Maybe I am being a bit paranoid but recently we gotten a new supervisor at The Home Depot that is extremely strict. Might it have been that Macys called Home Depot and gave me a bad reference?

Please, I would appreciate any input.

It might be. Doing an online search, someone at Home Depot must have said something in regards of "anyone employed there must devote their full attention to the company" or something along those lines.

Here's the link, other things are also listed.

There's always better jobs out there man, and to be honest seasonal work at macys is just straight terrible. Either in sales or support you'll get lowest no commissions, or in support doing recovery. It's a terrible company to work for without a college degree. But if you have one you can definitely move up the ranks, and quickly. Anyways there's plenty of places out there and plenty of jobs too, believe me you'll be ok.
