I am into the process of applying to join the Army Reserve via MAVNI

Now the thing that scares me the most is that I have to disclose my parent's statuses. I cannot lie but at the same time I am afraid of what might happen by disclosing it.

Any suggestions from people in the same boat?

I'm an enlisted soldier through the MAVNI program and Im also with the reserve as well. Yes, you have to enclose your parents situation with the military. The thing you have to look at is, they know your parents are illegal in the country when you applied for DACA and where they live so theres no reason to lie about anything. They will not go after your parents unless fraudulent enlistment.

When did you enlist? Did you already pass SSBI and already went through/going to BCT? How long did it take? And are there limits on reserves and languages? I speak Cantonese Chinese. I'm still deciding since I'm already 31, but might consider in case things goes south with this election.

Congrats on the enlistment! I am still in the fairly early process of enlisting in the reserves (just passed the ASVAB). You probably have not shipped to basic yet. What month do you go? Is your SSBI finished? How was the OPI? Can you tell me the kind of questions they asked you? I'm nervous about my vocabulary and might struggle here and there during the phone interview.Thank you!

Thank you that makes sense, I go to MEPS on Monday and Tuesday to take ASVAB and Medical, what would you suggest I bring and any pointers that you may have would be extremely appreciated.

Same page here.

Trying to go into Reserves, done with ASVAB and physical.

Waiting for G-845 to get approved so I can take the OPI and get started with SSBI.

What do we need to submit for SSBI? or do they just check everything about you?

Wow, they let you take ASVAB and physical without your G845 being approved first? That's awesome and rare.

The SSBI is largely based on whatever you filled out for SF86. The investigator will contact you to set up an interview and go over the info on SF86 and they will contact your references.
