Hello fellow dreamers,

Got a question for you.
So I'm married to USC and getting ready to file I-485 for permanent residence along with other forms.
Main question I've got is regarding the sponsorship part.

Since I've had my EAD card for 2+ years now, I've been legally working.
I actually make much more than my USC wife, would it make sense to sponsor my self
on I-864 ?

Logically, I support my wife and myself. Although I-864 is more of supporting me, but
in our case it's the other way around.

What is the best solution to this?

Thanks!

From what i understand, you will need a sponsor no matter what unless you have completed the required 40 credits (10 years of work history) with the SSA. In that case you will not need a sponsor.

with only 2 years work history, you can get your wife or another USC sponsor to fill out the 864.

I was wondering about this also because I've been married for almost 13 years, meaning my husband also my sponsor has worked the 40 credits, can't we apply for waiver of 864?
