Hello guys,
Before I start I just want to say I never been in trouble with the law before and it's life lesson learned for me and lived in NY. It shocked me that I got into this position. I was stopped at New Jersey for a traffic violations that leads into a suspicions afterward. My insurance and car registration was inside the glove compartment and I forgot I had a Coke can concealer where I hid my marijuana. So he asked if he can see it and I didn't know nothing about the law so at that point I was fucked and I gave it to him. And it's a nick piece of Marijuana like the size of 1 and half sunflower seed. Then he began to search my car and found a pipe as well. I'm not no pot head at all I had those stuff in my car for months and I just never cleaned that part of it from my car. Then he arrested me and took my fingerprint and mugshot and was released. Didn't have to stay in the jail cell at all. I currently have 4 traffic ticket violations and misdeamonor charges for the weed and drug paraphernalia. I'm currently seeking an attorney to help me out drop or dismiss the case and expunge the arrest record after several months.

Now my questions are, I'm a DACA holder and this is the first time I've never been in trouble with the law I was always careful. I don't gang bang or do any type of crimes it's just one mistake that idk how I let that happened. My DACA expired on Sept 2016. How will this affect my application? Will it has significant delays on getting approval? Will I'll be in some type of deportation or anything in that matter?, will I get denied?

Please help me out or anyone who has a misdeamonor who got caught for something small and stupid like this and how did it affect your application.

You could think whatever you want just cause if someone smoke once in a blue it doesn't mean they are a pothead. I just never cleaned my car for me to actually take it out I never really care. FYI I had that amount of weed for 6 months and never touched it in my car.

That doesn't change that fact that you were arrested for drug possession. Having DACA you should know better. There's no excuse

Ok, before everyone comes down on him with their pedestal, mj isn't even considered as misdemeanor in quite a few states now, it's not like he was cutting coke and dealing.

Your best bet is lawyer up as much as you can and hope they can minimize this, not sure what else you can do besides that since it's after the fact now.

Good luck with this.

Try being careful next time, nothing is worse than getting deported due to an avoidable mistake. A lawyer would be your best bet. Just be prepared to lose DACA or be ineligible to reapply.

Here is a link of what you should expect

https://newyorklegaldefense.com/prac...juana-charges/

You're lucky to get away free.

Just remember we are held to higher standards as we're not legal in the US yet.

Lords knows I always ask my friends if they're carrying weapons or drugs with them whenever I am riding with them.

" it was a mistake goshh"

How long has it been there? Not once in your mind did you ever think to yourself that maybe just maybe you left some questionable stuff in your car and you best remember what it is? I don't care about you here what I care is you are representing people with DACA. The entire DACA program. Everyone with DACA like myself are and because of it we should be responsible with it because maybe you don't know but republicans and anyone against it are trying to find anything to make DACA look bad.

A while ago they even questioned the 98% approval rate as being bad that uscis isn't really check to see who it approves. You don't think they will make a mockery out of us thanks you and all those idiots who continue to do stuff like this?

I won't wish you the worst but best of luck on your next renewable

I had a friend who had a marijuana misdemeanor. No jail time.
I know he was helped by a pro-Bono attorney from a non profit organization.

I also found this:

Good luck!

Everyone else... Get off your high horse. A stupid mistake does not mean he should be punished for the rest of his life. 😒
