So even before Daca came along, I have been working my butt off for a better life.
I was working a very stressful job as a teacher for the past 8 years and decided to quit and get into the medical field, i went to school for phlebotomy, I have been done with school for over a year and still can't find work in that field because no one wants to hire an "Inexperienced" phlebotomist.

how am i supposed to gain experience when no one wants to hire someone without any paid experience?, Ive applied to jobs like crazy, ive gotten a couple of interviews but no luck yet, i pray every day and still nothing has changed, feels like i am cursed.

I am currently working a measly job in the medical field, making minimum wage, working 3 days a week, 4 hours a day. This is the worst situation i have ever been in and i am panicking.

I have to renew my DACA and can't even afford to pay the $465, its so embarrassing because the little check that i get every 2 weeks is going straight to my bills so 465 is almost impossible right now. i don't know what to do. i cant even ask my family members for money because they have their own money problems. God when will this end? And before anyone tries to bash me. I am not lazy and i have been working since high school. Ive been applying to jobs almost daily and getting a full time position making good money is just very hard.

How much you getting paid a year in the teaching field? Did you teach HS? What is your concentration in teaching?

I feel that teaching would be a better career than drawing blood. You can always move up in teaching to administrator or counselor.

Drawing blood has no future, you are just going to draw blood all the time.

Anyways, I would just keep looking for a job. Have you tried Red Cross? I donate blood a lot per year and I always see new people.

Have you tried planned parenthood? Maybe you will need to start as an assistant.

What about still work as teacher and work as blood person part time.

OP if you are a man - get some work on the side, be a caregiver, etc.

If you are a woman, show your cleavage on www.pof.com and ask for support

OP, I'm sorry you're in such a tough situation. I know there's some fee assistance available, but it's going to depend on where you're living. Also, have you thought about substitute teaching?

When are you up for renewal? Regarding paying for DACA, please visit the following site: http://immigrantjustice.org/daca-resource-hub#Fees

sorry to hear you are having a hard time, OP. i am sure many here know exactly what that is like.

have you considered working outside of your field? reliant on your geographical area, office jobs may pay more than minimum wage. here in CA, they generally do and, if they don't, they at least usually employ 40 hours per week. i know this is not your field and i can understand not wanting to do something outside of it, but i am of the belief that one should take the best offer today so we can be picky and choosy in the future.

as far as raising money for gigs - have you tried a website like Craigslist? if you have any marketable abilities (no, not those), you might be able to raise the $465 fee for the renewal. last year, i needed some quick cash and i posted an ad on CL for English tutoring. i want to say that in about 10 hours or so, i quickly got more than $465. certainly, it is not something that will have high cash flows on a constant basis, but it might be something that can get you out of a bind. people also sometimes advertise when they need helping moving, cleaning, etc. and there is nothing wrong with that!

essentially - take care of the renewal first, then consider your long-term career options. change may be necessary and it is not a bad thing. good luck!

No, i taught preschool. And that's a shallow thing to say that there isn't a way to move up after drawing blood. My sister did it for years at kaiser and now she is a Lab Scientist. I refuse to go back to teaching. its not an option for me. I appreciate your input though.

Sad to say but Chyno is right. In this day and age, you need to approach things with an open mind. As they say beggars can't be choosers, as much as I want to help you, you need to first help yourself.

This is somewhat of a strange thing to say considering your first post, IMO.

Is anyone here renewing for a third time that could possibly give me a little more detail on how their process is going?
I recently sent my renewal, but I never received the access code some people are mentioning so I would like to know how it's going for other people renewing for the third round. Thanks!!!
