Good day! I've been following this forum for a couple of years.. this is the first time I post anything I know that there are some here that dislike users posting their success story as a new post.. but here it goes.

I was brought to the states at age 2. I am 31 now. I obtained DACA in 2012. Since 2010, I worked as a restaurant server and quickly moved to HR Coordinator in the same company (Hospitality) Long story short, and 6 years later, I've progressed from:

New Mexico - Restaurant Server to HR Coordinator
San Antonio Texas - HR Generalist to HR Manager
Washington D.C - HR Manager (current) All the moves have been with the same organization.. Aside from being solely responsible for the entire HR function for a trendy hotel in D.C I am a certified corporate trainer and travel extensively throughout the U.S to support other hotels.

My salary went from 5.50 an hour (server) to $75k with 20% bonus potential. I am also a member of the executive committee for the hotel. I hire and terminated executives and seek ways to increase employee moral, development and retention. I am constantly receiving offers from other hotel chains.. I only have a GED.. but I've worked hard to solidify my self as a high performer.

Thanks to DACA, I purchased a new Nissan vehicle back in 2014 and have three credit cards - Discover - Chase Freedom and Citi.

I've been to just about every state and territory - Virgin Islands and my favorite Puerto Rico.. I love PR! been there 5 times in the past 6 months.

I've hired international students, (about 250) in the past 3 years as J1 interns. Kinda awkward that If I select them, they can travel from Romania, Moldova, Thailand, Taiwan a and China to the states. anyhow, I am extremely grateful for this opportunity.. don't let anyone tell you that something is beyond your reach. The majority of my cousins and relatives do not talk to me. Although they are U.S citizens, they've settled with what they have.. and now pay the consequences.

Feel free to reach out to me if you have any specific questions related to DACA, employment, development and challenges with HR.

God Bless All
