So this is my third time back after travelling with AP and for the first time ever, CBP insisted on keeping both copies of my Ap. I even told them in the past I was goven one copy but they refused to give me any copies. Any thoughts?

Stamp in passport, and print out your I-94 information.

https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov

That's all you'll need when you'll need proof of legal entry to adjust your status.

When I first returned after spending a month abroad with my AP, they took only a single copy of the document.
On my second trip, they didn't bother to keep any of them.
I guess it really is dependent on the officer himself.
