I wanted to see whether I would qualify for a student loan from Wells Fargo so I opened up their online application and input my data.

For the Citizenship section, the only option that allows you to move forward is selecting Non-Resident Alien and checking I am a temporary resident alien as shown in this picture:

This allowed the application to go through albeit I still need a US Citizen's co-signature. Are we DACAers considered temporary non-resident aliens?

heck they didnt even let me apply for a credit card even with temporary resident alien. Eventually I got a letter telling me that since I was not a PERMANENT resident they had to decline my application

Fuck them. I have credit cards from other major banks; BoA, Discover, Citi, Chase. Either they didn't ask about my status OR only asked "are you a US citizen? If not, enter country of citizenship."

As for car loans, I've leased and bought several vehicles using the dealer's own loan application or through an auto broker who set everything up with no problem.

Only thing I haven't tried is financing a house ... hopefully in the next 5 years.

Note: All cards were applied for Online so I've never been asked anything besides what was on the application. I've never been inside a bank since opening my first checking account 5+ years ago.

Did they deny you after the application went through or they didn't let you complete the application at all?

Fuck Wells Fargo, they will deny any credit application due to our status. However, I do have accounts with them and they also bought out the loan to my mortgage which wasn't originally thru them but now it is. Go with B of A much more lenient towards us with everything.

I would highly recommend everyone to stay away from Wells Fargo for EVERYTHING. The bank has serious issues going on. The senior management is corrupted beyond belief. Do not open any accounts at Wells Fargo, even a checking account!! You are inviting trouble by doing so. OP, try inquiring at other banks like Discover or maybe even a credit union? If you already have an account with Wells Fargo, you should really take a look at your credit report to make sure they didn't open up credit card accounts for you without your permission.
