So i've read this a few times in the news thus far, but wasn't sure what immediate benefit it would grant us outside of no longer being deportable by USCIS. Are we able to get work permits at least? I know for sure it is not a pathway to Citizenship. President Obama has been coy and dodged answering the question directly so i'm not sure what's going on in the current administration.

Obama's "pardon" will be challenged and blocked in court.

Just look at DAPA.

A Presidential pardon can not be challenged in court. That's why it's a Presidential pardon

Damn that is the first time I hear this from what seems a reputable source. Honestly, I would be happy if they say, we just won't be deportable. Eventually a law would have to pass to gives the right to work. But if they can issue a pardon , then we can at least claim to have done no harm.

This article from back in July is relevant to this situation and it kind of goes along with what I said.

I do not know if we have any lawyers here to comment on the implications this would have.

I believe that with enough pleas Obama would consider this as the last resort.

We are left with a brutal legacy of millions of families torn apart, many simply for doing what they needed to do to protect and feed their children. President Obama will not be judged on his intentions or his attempts on immigration, but rather on his real impact. This is his last chance to establish a legacy of pragmatic compassion.

Ive posted this as an option. Although somewhat of a nuclear unchallenged option.

Technically, the pardon can only relate to unlawful presence and that would technically mean being able to apply for visas due to a reset.
