Need yours guys' advice.

So I called up the number on this ad I saw in the pennysaver a couple of days ago. The ad said that the company needed 100 people to fill positions. It pays 1800 a month, but they dont tell you that you have to complete a certain number of in house demos. The hiring manager said they were conducting walk-in interviews and if I could come in tomorrow. (Yesterday, Thursday) So me being all desperate, I go in and have the interview and am told that I will be performing customer service duties and answering phones etc. So I'm thinking okay fine. They say I can call them later on in the day to find out what the outcome was on my application. I am told to attend the orientation and training session tomorrow.

So right now I start doing research on the company, Kirby. Turns out that I will be walking door to door about 12 hours a day selling vacuum cleaners!

I know that landing a job is tough especially for us, but I'm not that desperate. I believe I will be canceling pretty damn fast. What do you guys think?

i once went for one that sold kitchen knifes.

i never showed up again after the interview, im not the kind of person who can sell stuff to people, i have too much integrity.

PS ... about three weeks ago this "student" came to our house and offered to clean our carpet for "free"
however when they showed up they were only there to demonstrate how a vacuum they where selling works and only cleaned like a square foot of the carpet, while trying to sell us a 2,000 vacuum. No wonder my dad kicked him out of the house. lol

I wouldn't do it. Kirby's salesmen have been arrested and sued over the past three years. You'll be exposing yourself to a lot of risk.

My dad is a door to door salesman. He was making around 700- 1k a week...until the house mortgage problems came. He still makes good money off it though.

Of course, it was DirectTV and Dish.

I really feel for salesmen though...i couldnt bare having someone close the door on my face.
