Nothing makes an elite liberal critic madder than when a Republican is undeniably smart and strategic. This is why the left always went apoplectic over Vice President Dick Cheney – he was so obviously brilliant and shrewd, they could only claim he must be evil.

Donald Trump will have a few outstanding opportunities, early in his presidency, to enrage the elitist left (something I believe he enjoys doing) by being terribly clever. The best and earliest chance for him to do it? Right in that media-rich sweet spot of immigration reform.

Anything Trump does – or doesn't do – on immigration will be covered with lust by the media. His positions on this issue have been so controversial (according to establishment types) that every reporter in the country will be salivating to win a Pulitzer by uncovering what they believe to be Trump's true racist, alt-right, ultra-nationalist agenda.

Trump knows how hungry the media will be to cover (expose) him on immigration. How delicious it would be to serve them their first bite through this curve ball: Take a pass on immediately striking down President Barack Obama's executive Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (Obama's authoritarian solution to a lack of ability to get the Dream Act passed into law) in favor of making a bigger deal with Congress on broader immigration reform.

Trump's critics wouldn't even see it coming. Pausing on reversing Obama's action runs completely counter to the Trump narrative. Waiting patiently for more significant, smarter reforms that quite likely protect those productive non-criminals who entered the country in their parent's arms would be so, well, thoughtful. So empathetic, and strategic and smart! The elite left and media establishment won't know what to do or say. How fun!

Beyond the game of messing with his critics' minds, Trump may also find satisfaction in being different from Obama. Using executive actions to make significant public policy reforms has always been a bad practice – one that Trump should resist if he wants to be a better president than his predecessor. So while immediate repeal will be a tempting, low-hanging fruit for someone who campaigned on immigration reform, Trump can show he's a more serious president by immediately employing his "Art of the Deal" approach instead: Use Obama's action as a chip in a bigger-stakes immigration deal with Congress.

Furthermore, Trump is a man who ultimately relies on common sense and a gut-level morality of good and bad. He's a man who can easily see that it is right and fair to consider the undocumented young people referred to as Dreamers separately from those who knowingly committed the crime of entering our country illegally.

The good economic data around Dreamers should also appeal to Trump. A recent study has shown that they are making a net-positive impact on the American economy. They have jobs, buy cars and houses, pursue higher education and start businesses. They are not a threat to America; they are a distinctly different category than the criminals Trump referenced when building public support for his candidacy, and for eventual reform.

The bar is high in his case, but making good deals in the public policy space will likely be the most satisfying thing Trump has ever experienced, professionally. Occasionally, he will be able to accomplish this while also infuriating his critics. And that will be the icing on the cake of being President Donald Trump.
Looks good for us tomorrow!

Heres the source, since people don't like posting them for some reason.

Also, its a shitty opinion piece, almost as if Omarosa wrote it.
