$900 tax penalty for not having insurance

I was doing my taxes and came to the realization that contrary to last year, DACA is listed under "legal immigrant" status, which makes it mandatory that you have health insurance, yikes. I did not expect this, since as far as I know, for previous years we were written off, since we couldn't partake in the marketplace.

So! FYI, you must have coverage else you're going to owe the IRS like I am this year...

I didn't pay a penalty this year neither, same as the other years since we are not legal residents. Did you do your taxes yourself?

We've never had to pay the fine, we're exempt from it.

Obamacare penalty doesn't apply DACA kids. Turbotax and H&R block both have DACA as an exemption.
