How reliable are these? My sister just turned 21 and my mother has talked to her about filing for me since she was born here. My parents got a lawyer who they met through a recommendation from one of their friends. Apparently, people have great things to say about him. My mom told me one person she knows, his brother filed for him and it took only 4 months to get his green card. If that was possible for me, I would do it.

They told me the lawyer will charge me $5ooo for the process, which I find to be very steep, but given how long my DACA applications take to get approved (like 4/5 months in my case) I think a lawyer would be a good idea. I have no criminal history or anything.

But I want to know if anyone has tried this. How long would does this normally take? And is this a reliable way to get a green card. I dont want to give up that much money to end up with nothing.

Depends what country you are from.

If you are from Mexico or China, it will take easy 20 years.

If you are from another country I think the among the shortest wait times is about 6-7 years.

4 Months is a lie..

First of all to be able to adjust through a sibling you must have entered with inspection or be under 245i.

The other issue is you must wait on your priority date to become current. According to the current visa bulletin for sibling petition (4th category) the wait is at least 12+ years (depending on what country you are from).

What you can do is after she adjusts your parents status, your parents can then file for you which takes 6-7 years

It's woth it if you actually want to stay in the country and if that's your only way to adjust your status.

It's only broken out separately for Philippines, Mexico, India, China (Mainland born).

All other countries are lumped together in separate category.
