I haven't been to Mexico since I was 5 and never thought to go back but seeing as it's a real possibility that I'll be going back then I thought I'd ask. How are the females there? What about jobs? And how hard would it be for a young adult who is average at best at speaking Spanish to get by? Would people talk shit? Also school, I believe my parents mentioned something about college being super affordable

Haven't been there since I was 4 months old but It's really not that bad as the media hypes it up as long as you're not in a rural area dominated by narcos like somewhere in Durango, Michocan or Sinaloa (95% of Mexico is untouched by the drug war). There are plenty of places that are good to live in like Monterrey, Guadalajara (plenty of hot chicks), Baja California Sur, and resorts areas like Puerto Vallarta & Lake Chapala(dominated by expats who love Mexico). NOT Acapulco and Veracruz though.

The state universities are free as long as you're a citizen of Mexico and they're one of the best in Latin America, in fact latinos envy us due to this advantage. In fact, Mexico is a world leader in engineering and computer science. Jobs there are a bit discriminatory but as long as you're not old, "Indio looking" you will get one easily.

Yes, you have to learn spanish but a large amount of the population speaks English too. People would talk shit especially if you're pretentious but only the machistas who are overly patriotic (kinda like the rednecks)

The reasons so many people leave Mexico are mainly because didn't have enough educational opportunities because they were raised in poor, rural areas where schools are far or they just didn't study enough and because of the lack of jobs there especially back in the 1990s with NAFTA (it's actually gotten a LOT better now). Another reason why they leave is because of narco violence, the toxic culture there, and their own personal pursuits (like a program to study abroad, work visas, etc.)

Ok good my moms side of the family lives in Monterrey and they're all super successful and they always call me every few months to check up on me so I know they won't let me fail.

If I can go to school since it's basically free and find me a cool ass wife then wtf am I doing here struggling? I'm not gon enough let a bunch of old men in suits decide my outcome. Fuck that I can make a life in Mexico 🇲🇽

Well, it's only the state universities that are free. The private universities cost about 10k pesos which is a few thousand American dollars. Yeah, you might acquire a wife, just make sure she doesn't have a narco past or narco connections.

Remember there are about 1 million US citizens living in Mexico. Some of them are Chicano, but others have no Mexican ancestry and just retire or live in the beauties of Mexico and they say it's better than the US because it's not for everybody vice versa.

Most of my dad's side of the family is successful. They all went to school for different careers. Engineering is probably the best bet. Lots of manufacturing jobs.

They complain about long work hours and the pay is not as good as here. But they make a good living, they go out on nice trips, vacations, they even visit me every year.

They are so much relaxed about life in general which gives me comfort. The ones who are not engineers, they did things like marketing, business and even communications...

There are plenty of educational opportunities, also some of them went to Europe to get their master's. One of my cousins studied international business in Barcelona and another cousin is about to start Data science in the U.K.

If you are ambitious and smart you can make it. Money is a big factor. My advice would be to save enough money before you leave, say 50K. 20K to settle and 30K to pursue and finish your educations.

Having family support as you arrive is a great advantage

Having said that, do not leave... even if DACA gets repealed right away. Let the dust settle and save as much money as possible.
