Hello, Just today i received my background check report from Target. In my Background Report Summary it said I was eligible but it said my SSN was unable to validate. Will this be a problem? I received an orientation email from Target last Tuesday, does that mean I passed and my SSN validation didn't matter? I really want this job.

Hi, I think you'll be fine.

When I applied for jobs, my SSN could not be validated either. I was asked to submit copy of my SSN card, and the company was ok with it.

Oh Alright! Do I have to do that? I haven't been contact by Target yet. I was only sent my orientation email which I guess was good news? Thank you by the way!

It just means that it doesn't follow the old SSN format where the first 3 numbers were "area codes", followed by so-called "group numbers", then your personal number. However there were rules about which area codes and group numbers were supposed to be used together. The whole system was randomized in 2011, because some areas were running out of available numbers.
I had the same problem back in the day, because even though mine was issued in TX, it starts with 009, which was originally used in Vermont, but the assigned group numbers were never used there, so I was getting the unable to validate number errors. That's basically how they were able to filter out fraudulent/made-up numbers before 2011

Is it going to be a problem?

Shouldn't be. With the EAD, they know that you are authorized to work

The company will reach out to you if they need to validate your SSN. Otherwise, you wouldn't need to do anything.
