August 15th: NATIONWIDE DACA RALLY DAY!!!

What: Nationwide March In Support Of DACA!
When: August 15th, 2017
Where: Washington, DC, New York City, Miami, Austin, Tucson, Oklahoma City, and MANY MORE.

Washington, DC – On August 15th, immigrant youth and allies from across the country will rally and march outside the White House to demand the Trump administration protect the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA) and the Temporary Protection Status (TPS) programs. This event is part of a national day of action led by immigrant youth.

August 15th marks the milestone anniversary when immigrant youth were first able to apply for DACA protection in 2012. Over the past five years, DACA has provided immigrant youth protection from deportation, the opportunity for higher education and jobs, and more stability to our communities. Similarly, TPS has aided over 300,000 immigrants from Africa, Haiti, Central America and other countries that have suffered from major catastrophes.

Come on guys, let's come together and push for our cause! Participate in this nationwide march if DACA has positively transformed your life and you don't want it to end anytime soon. Bring yourselves, friends, family members...the more the better. Bring American flags, signs, anything that's in support of DACA. WE need to make a final push and show the anti-DACA folks our strength and send a message to Congress that the immigrant community is serious.

They don't have one in my city and I can't take the day off so it's a moot point but since I don't have DACA protection, I would think about it to be honest. Also, I hide in plain sight so it could be devastating if the wrong person saw me and started asking questions so if I came, I'd probably be in the back of the crowd or something.

I'm all for more American Flags, but I don't think we need to panic if there's a few foreign flags flying around at the rallies. It's the anti-immigrant groups that this really bothers, and we aren't going to convince them that their rhetoric is wrong by using more American Flags.
