Hey guys, I'm a long time lurker/newbie.

I just wanted to let ya'll know that it's possible to get DACA and then permanent residency with a DUI. I received permanent residency in June so it was under Trump' administration.

When I was going through the process I relied on this forum to get some answers so I just wanted to give back to all of you

If you are interested in getting more info let me know. I'm writting a blog about it, since there's too much information for 1 post

I have a couple questions if you don't mind answering.

1. How bad was the DUI? Accidents? BAC?

2. Can you file expungement right after completing the classes and paying the fines? Or is there ways around it?

3. Did you need a lawyer to get it expunged? And was it expensive?

I would appreciate feedback. Thank you!.

1. How bad was the DUI? Accidents? No accident, no one was hurt, I was just pulled over. I refused a breathelyser.

2. Can you file expungement right after completing the classes and paying the fines? Or is there ways around it?
I hired a lawyer to expunge the DUI once my parole ended. I believe a lawyer can also file to terminate parole and expunge. Paying the fines and completing the classes must be done ASAP, that is the only way to qualify for the expungement. This was in California so other states may be different!

3. Did you need a lawyer to get it expunged? And was it expensive? I lawyered up because I wanted someone who was experienced. I've heard that others have expunged on their own in California and only paid the filing fee....My lawyer charged me $500, plus a filing fee of $120.

I wrote a more detailed blog post about it: http://www.breathingmydreams.com/expunging-a-dui/

Hope this helps and good luck!

On what basis were you able to submit a adjustment of status? Did AP give you a legal entry to USA?

Thank you for this post . Good job to all of you going out of your way to help the community unfortunately we are humans and make mistakes there are a lot of dreamers out there with DUIs.

I'm thinking as long as your crime is not a crime of moral turpitude you should be fine.

So please no

Drugs
Domestic violence
Theft
Fraud
Soliciting prostituts

These will get you deported for life !

If I understood your post correctly you got a DUI expunged it and then you qualified for advanced parole? That's great news!

I had to go to Mexico to see my ailing father and I was given AP. Upon my return, I was granted legal entry.
