Former President Obama is expected to speak out against President Trump's reported decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, Politico reports.

A person close to Obama said he plans to post a statement on Facebook and link to it on Twitter, according to Politico.

During his last news conference as president, Obama said an attack on the "Dreamers" program would cause him to speak out publicly.

"The notion that we would just arbitrarily or because of politics punish those kids, when they didn't do something themselves ... would merit my speaking out," he said, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Politico reported Sunday night that Trump has made the decision to end DACA, which temporarily blocked the deportation of undocumented immigrants who were brought to the country as minors and sought work permits.

Nearly 800,000 people brought to the country illegally as children have benefitted from the program.

Trump's decision reportedly includes a six-month delay which would give Congress a window in which it could step in before the protections expire, one White House official told Politico.

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have called on the president not to end the program, with House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) saying he believes it's something "Congress has to fix."

Looking forward to this.

Obama speaking will be counter productive in my opinion...

I'm hoping he addresses Congress in a positive manner, or else he may antagonize them politically and nothing will get done.

How will Obama speaking out help us?

Trump hates the guy and everything he has made, hope it doesn't make things worse.

Oh gosh I thank him for all the support that he is giving us but I hope he does not do that. Trump doesn't like Obama and doing so might trigger him. I don't want the orange man to go ooompa loompa on us.

Yeah I'm on the same boat. I'm eternally thankful to Obama for what he did for us, but if he does speak out I hope it's towards co guess urging them to find a solution for us... rather than go after trump

He is not going after trump chill! What's done is done this goes way past us we are just a pawn in the game . Trump already knows what he is going to do. Nothing will change that we need the support to bring awareness to the issue .

Politically and morally , Obama has to respond and need to respond. DACA was created by him . That's his legacy. The bigger the backlash , bigger the chance we will get legislative solution , hopefully
