Hello, I am trying to submit all the paperwork to adjust status asap through marriage to my usc wife. I have a question in regards to the new i485 form, if anyone can please help.

For the questions that asks "Have you ever violated the terms or conditions of your nonimmigrant status ?" ...Would my answer be yes ? since I overstay ?????

Also for the question that asks , "Have you ever applied for any kind of relief or protection from removal , exclusion , or deportation ?"....would again the answer be yes ? since I have DACA ?

thank you.

No one here can tell you what your answer should be, nor should you listen to anyone that claims they do.

Please go visit a qualified immigration attorney and pay them a fair price to file your case. If you have to sell everything you have to afford it, do it.

It's more complex than that. Every word on these forms have a very specific and intentional legal meaning that might differ from everyday interpretation. You might be admitting to something that you never did.

While it's always best to check with a lawyer, try posting your question in the AOS thread:

1 is a yes. 2 is a no as DACA does nothing to fight removal proceedings.

DACA doesn't count as granting us relief from deportation?

For you and for anyone who is looking to Adjust Status.

Someone recommended this website, I tried it and I recommend it. Most of these forms are easy and I filled most of it out myself. BUT you always want that 2nd look from a real lawyer.

Looks like they have a special for DACA recipients where we can pay what we can. I paid the full $500, but you can save now. It's like TurboTax but for immigration paperwork but once you finish, you get to speak with a real lawyer who goes over everything and helps explain where you need answers. Right now I am still in the process of AOS. Waiting on the interview.

That's pretty cool, thanks. I'm planning on marrying soon. If I do, I'll try it out.
