"The Department of Homeland Security is “actively considering” delaying a looming deadline for so called-Dreamers to renew their status under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, a Justice Department attorney said at a court hearing Thursday, according to attendees and a government official.

Deputy Assistant Attorney General Brett Shumate cited the hurricanes that recently hit Texas, Florida and nearby states as grounds for the potential delay to the Oct. 5 deadline, while noting that no final decision had been made, an official said."

They should also expand the expiration period beyond March.

As someone expiring in August 2018. I would appreciate that but it would work against us as the urgency in congress to pass something will no longer be needed.

I agree. I want to be optimistic that congress will do something. Its just that history is not on our side.

I would like to at least be able to work for two more years rather than a couple of months.

well, sadly it would probably mean the people expiring on 3/5/18 and before will have more time to renew, I don't think they will expand the pool of people who can renew.

In the words of Gen.Kelly this is just an excuse for Congress members to not resolve the issue. It's meant to derail the urgency of passing the DreamAct.

This is only delaying the deadline for those that can renew. It's giving people more time to gather money and documents (especially for those effected by the hurricanes).

This doesn't change anything but the Oct. 5 deadline.. not the March one so they're not extending from that end. They still have to act within the time they've always had.

It has to done Sep or October so that publication, rule making and comment period are done timely before 3/5.
