Given the political climate and DACA being rescinded, is switching jobs a good idea?

Current job:
Pros - I am relatively happy at my current company. Good flexibility. I am respected, leadership adores me. It's a Fortune 100 company.
If DACA shit hits the fan, they will put me on LOA and rehire when I have my EAD again.

Cons - I didn't negotiate my salary when I joined. I can make $10K-$25K more if I switch jobs.

Potential new job:
Pros - More pay. Similar flexibility (at least thats what they are saying) but hard work doesn't fear me, so flexibility isn't very important.

Cons: It will be a new company and with DACA being rescinded, I don't want to join a company to only leave in a year. They may not want to rehire me or wait for EAD.

Thoughts? Hate to loose out of $10K - $25K..UGH! I hope something permanent passes but that is besides the point here!

Coming from a person who worked from a F20 company and accepted an offer (2 months ago) to work for a F500 company, I'd say do it. You are legally able to work anyways. Don't leave money off the table.

I did. My status of losing job/EAD won't change if I had stayed or moved to a new company. I switched thinking best case scenario.

Appreciate the feedback. I decided to hold off for a couple months to see what happens with DACA. If a permanent solution is passed, I might as well look for my dream job that offers travel. Right now neither options offer travel.

Few months will also get me over the 3 year mark at my current client which means the 401K will be vested!

For those in similar boats, it is also important to note that the job market in my current city is HOT so finding another job in a few months will not be a big deal!

Seems like you made the right decision then, friend.

Vested 401k will be worth it!
