Sen. Lindsey Graham said Wednesday that eliminating the Diversity Visa Lottery — the method the suspect in the New York terrorist attack used to gain a foothold in the U.S. — should be part of any bill to legalize illegal immigrant Dreamers.

Good news, since Trump will most likely ask for this.

It's okay. Yes, a lot of people do get in here this way. I am sorry, but we have to be selfish here. I am all for it.... time to focus on merit-based immigration. Although I am sure people will probably shut this down or will revise it so the number is much lowered (or ban more countries).

I'm ok with this, but I hope they transfer the annual visa numbers to other visa programs instead of just getting rid of them. Also as previously mentioned, a lot of the people who "win" are kind of undeserving.

Agree! I personally know many undeserving people who were lucky enough to come here through this program - most of them went back because they thought it would be okay to take advantage of and abuse every resource out there while they sit like a potato. It blows my mind how people like us on this forum work our asses off and watch our every move, and idiots like the ones I know take the opportunity for granted. Anyway, it would be great if this was merit-based instead.

Trump is a new conference this afternoon already said that he has started the process of terminating diversity visa lottery. Not sure what it entails but yeah!

He has to ask congress to do away with it.

Trump's happy that the indictment/Russia story is less in the news. I don't care one way or the other about the DV Lottery (though I have entered it every year since I could, I'm under 245i).
