After 37 years as an undocumented immigrant, Queens man is being deported, leaving family behind
http://www.ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs/...queens-family-

This is just heartbreaking - we need the Dream Act now.

“And in July, ICE determined there was "no compelling reason" to exercise discretion in this case. And so when Riaz checked in with ICE last month, agents told him he would be deported on Nov. 20.”

And people here get mad when I criticize ICE. Piece of ^%+# agents always looking to make a quick bonus. His wife has cancer and his kids are minors for gods sake.

No, there is not. He will be able to apply since he arrived aged 13, and save himself and keep his family together.

P.S. Good faith question: why haven't you read it??

here is the thing about this kind of situation.
there are multiple people at fault here.
first and foremost is our terrible garbage former president, obama for misleading people, giving false hope, and maintaining this air of being unsure if you should leave or stay here.
secondly, i am tired of this victim complex that plagues so many people i know; illegal, both mexican and other nationalites.
(this guy is an exception, because his wife is sick, so ICE should proceed with caution, and maybe he can stay under a "duress" exception.)
it's not the end of the world if you get deported.
don't allow people to paint you as a victim, as if you're a fucking child that politicians from BOTH sides just use as pawns.
do you know how pathetic it is when you have to have a fucking lawyer speak for you while your kids are crying because you don't tell them what's really going on?
take control of the situation.
save up money, etc.
4000 us dollars can get you very far when you're back in your country.

You came to a pro-DreamAct discussion board to advocate self-deportation?
It's no more pathetic than ppl here claiming they are fault-free by staying past age 18. That is not the point.

The point is that there is such a thing as roots. His and his family roots are in this country. So are everybody's here in this portal.

i'm just pointing out how much potential harm there was in leading people to believe they were gonna be safe and protected from deportations forever.
